Microwave Ablation: An Innovative Option in Desmoid Tumour Treatment

Guided by imaging techniques (ultrasound or computed tomography), this probe is precisely positioned within the tumour, emitting microwave energy that generates high heat in the tumour cells, thereby destroying them. This method, which targets only the tumourous area while causing minimal damage to surrounding healthy tissues, is currently used safely in the treatment of many solid tumours.

• Local Anaesthesia and Sedation: It can often be easily performed under local anaesthesia and sedation, without the need for general anaesthesia.
